BIWA organized the MDC to visit and check the teeth of 158 students at SD 6 Jimbaran. The school was established in 1978 and recently renovated by the government. They have 12 classes and 458 students. The principal pak Wayan is most proud of his school and has entered it into the 'Healthy School Competition' for Bali - to be judged soon.
The students were exceptionally well behaved and brave, considering most of them had never been to a dentist before. BIWA is once again actively involved in sponsoring, promoting and caring for the dental health of children in Bali.
Some BIWA members (Melly, Lizzie, Marianne, Ratih, Hasta, Dayang, Titin and Beurt) came along and brought gifts for the children e.g. milk, cookies etc.
BIWA works together with the Dental Faculty from Mahasaraswati University Denpasar. Drg. Hendry and the team first explained to the children how to care for their teeth, then checked, and gave further treatment if necessary.
Special thanks to Ratih Oorbeek - BIWA Social Welfare Coordinator for organizing the MDC to SD 6 Jimbaran. We would like more members to join us next time.
