GENERAL INFORMATION

BIWA is once again sponsering and organising the Mobile Dental Clinic to check and treat the teeth of children many of whom have never been to see a dentist. Often these are in remote areas of Bali, but surprisingly in city areas as well. We work in conjunction with the FKG Mahasaraswati University Dental Faculty. Dr Setiawan and his team of SKG assistants first check the children's teeth and then give them treatment such as fillings, scaling or extractions, if necessary. The children are also given instruction on correct hygiene and how to care for their teeth. BIWA members attend for support but also bring food, toothbrushes and toothpaste books etc. for the children, and help keep them entertained. It's amazing how quickly the faces light up after being given small gifts, even after treatment. They are so well-behaved and grateful!

We would love more members to join us with the MDC or any other social welfare projects to see first hand what our charity work achieves. Just let us know if you intend to come along by ringing the BIWA office so that we can arrange transport or give you directions etc.
