Visit to SD 9 Sidakarya - Sesetan, Denpasar

In mid January, it rained so heavily that some areas in denpasar were totally flooded including some schools. During the board meeting, Marriane - BIWA Vice President suggested that BIWA do something to help the victims of the flood. On Friday 23th of January some BIWA members (Ratih, Marianne, Sonja, Lizzie, Titin, Melly) visited SD 9 Sidakarya - Sesetan. The school was covered by 1.5m of water, all the school furniture, books and computers were water damaged.

When we arrived the student 's books were drying in the sun in front of the school. It was a sad view.The BIWA team put together some cash of Rp.1.500.000 which we donated to the school to repair their computers. We also brought writing books, biscuits etc. to distribute to the children.

The visit was covered by the Bali Post for the next day edition (Saturday, 24 January 2009). This helps us to keep the local community informed of what BIWA is doing for people in need around us.
