Social Welfare Projects and Appeals

Bali International Women's Association (BIWA)

BIWA accepts donations that will be allocated to give assistance in fields that have been BIWA’s concern in its social programs for the past 30 years (education, health care, and environment). Established contacts with both government agencies and local NGO’s ensure that funds are allocated in an appropriate and accountable way.

Relief funds administered by BIWA are used specifically to finance:

Children and Education. This includes scholarship and nutrition assistance for disadvantaged children. For more information on the projects BIWA has supported in this area during the past years,  please read our Annual Report and Welfare Reports.

Women. Support for projects that help women victims of domestic violence and training programs to empower disadvantaged women. Women's health is also one of our agendas by giving a free check-ups of pap smear and dental. Also HIV/AIDS and breast cancer awareness

Poverty. General programs that assist in providing start-up capital (micro-credit) to empower poor families. We have provided capital for pig farming in Pura village in Singaraja. We continue to provide financial and other assistance to elderly people in Bali's remote areas.

Health.  BIWA is very much involved in supporting health programs including HIV/AIDS and drug rehabilitation and awareness programs, nutrition programs,  breast cancer awareness and support etc. For more information on our health projects please read our Annual Report or our Welfare Assistance Reports.

Environmental issues. This currently focuses on support of villages by providing environmental training and resources to establish sustainable plantations for the future.

Relief. BIWA has always been one of the first organisations to help in disaster relief wherever it is needed in Indonesia, after mudslides, flooding, earthquakes, or the Bali bombings. Members donated whatever they could, money, blankets, clothing medicines and of course their time and support for the victims.

We thank you for your continued support of our projects. Without you we could not achieve any of these goals.

BIWA will continue to hold its annual charity bazaars, and other events, to support its projects. Please read our Monthly Activities Calendar 2009 for more information.

A big thank you to all those volunteers, booth owners, members of the public and others who take an active part in our fundraising activities.

For more information on some of BIWA's larger projects please read our Project Reports.

BIWA is extremely grateful to their sponsors, many of whom donate to BIWA's welfare projects on a regular basis. We would especially like to acknowledge the invaluable assistance, donations and goods in kind given to BIWA during the year by local residents as well as regular visitors to Bali. All of these help to support our above mentioned programs.

If you or your organization would like to donate funds to our existing projects or to a special project that you are interested in, please contact BIWA. We would be pleased to hear from you.

Donations can be deposited into BIWA's account:
